Santigie’s Journey: Empowering Independence Through Microfinance Loans
Santigie, a resilient and determined individual from Lunsar, is living proof that disability is not inability. Refusing to let his physical challenges define him, Santigie chose to channel his skills into repairing shoes for his community rather than resorting to begging on the streets. Driven by his ambition to improve his craft and attract more customers, he sought a way to enhance the tools and materials he used in his trade.
On November 8, 2023, Santigie received his first Microfinance loan from Reseed. This initial support was transformative, enabling him to purchase the materials he needed to scale his shoe repair business. His hard work and commitment paid off, and with the success of his first loan, he applied for and received a second loan.
With this additional funding, Santigie created a dedicated workspace near his home where customers could come to have their shoes repaired. This small but meaningful change not only improved his business but also reinforced his independence and sense of purpose.
Today, Santigie is thriving in his work, proud to contribute to his community while defying stereotypes about disability. Thanks to the support of Reseed, Santigie has transformed his life and continues to inspire others with his determination and success.
