About
We launched Reseed because we wanted to do ‘charity’ differently - we wanted to do it better and do it well.
We didn’t want to waste money, resources or time on projects that don’t tackle the root cause, projects that only offer a short-term solution or projects that have reached thousands but haven’t really helped anybody.
We wanted to create real, lasting change and tackle poverty at the core.
We aren’t saying our programmes are perfect but as a small team, we’re able to adapt and evolve our programmes to ensure they don’t just sound good, but actually do good. Our local teams understand the local context and listen and respond to the needs of those we want to support.
Our Mission
We create sustainable employment and livelihoods so individuals and communities can reach financial stability. We want to see Sierra Leone with a thriving economy and skilled workforce where those who were previously trapped in a cycle of poverty are not just surviving but have a steady and reliable income.
Our Ethos
We have four simple principles that guide everything we do - from our projects to fundraising and how we operate.
01 Financial Empowerment
Our work isn’t a short-term fix, we focus on helping people reach financial stability so they’re not just surviving but have the financial freedom to make their own decisions, plan for the future and are more resilient to health and environmental shocks.
02 Transparency
You won’t get the glossy PR version of our charity, you’ll get the reality - our successes and our failures, how your money is spent, the challenges we’re facing - all of it. Because if we don’t trust you with the truth, how can we ask you to trust us?
03 Capacity Building
We practise what we preach - any new project we set up is run by locally employed people and we are totally dedicated to supporting and empowering our team to gain essential qualifications and skills.
04 Impact
We take our projects seriously and want to ensure we provide the largest positive impact we can. We’re not afraid of admitting our mistakes and believe it’s important to learn from them. We review our projects on iterative cycles and work with our team on the ground to adapt and respond, striving to improve project outcomes and impact.
