Ramatu’s New Beginning: Empowering a Single Mother Through a Microfinance Loan
Ramatu, a hardworking single mother of two, is one of Reseed’s microfinance beneficiaries who received a loan on May 8, 2024. Before this loan, she worked hard to support her children by selling used clothes. Every morning, she went to the market to buy goods on credit, then sold them throughout the day. At the end of the day, she would pay back the wholesalers and use the small profit to take care of her children, but there was often nothing left for herself or her future.
Recognising the challenges she faced, Reseed decided to offer her a loan to help build a more stable and profitable business. This loan enabled her to buy quality goods upfront, allowing her to secure better deals from wholesalers who now saw her as a reliable customer. With the capital in hand, she no longer had to spend entire days selling small quantities or return to the wholesalers with little to show for her efforts.
Now, thanks to the support of the loan, she can make steady sales, maintain a reliable income, and provide a better future for her children. This loan has not only empowered her financially but has also given her the opportunity to control and grow her business sustainably.
Her story is a powerful example of how the work we do at Reseed can transform lives, enabling individuals to break the cycle of hardship and create lasting change for their families.
